Biofuels obtained from biomass residues

Description

The CARBOENERGY project aims to demonstrate the technical-economic-environmental feasibility of a sustainable biofuel and bioenergy production strategy through the development and application of low-cost and efficient catalytic, adsorbent and fuel biocarbons obtained from biomass waste.

 

Objectives

  • To obtain bio-carbons for its use as adsorbents, catalysts and fuels.
  • To develop an adsorbent that removes sulphur from the SANDACH fats.
  • To develop a heterogeneous catalyst that allows biodiesel to be produced.
  • To develop a metal catalyst supported to obtain biofuels by hydrogenation.
  • To develop solid fuels with high calorific value and low cost.

Actions

1.Production of catalytic bio-carbons, adsorbents and biofuels through hydrothermal carbonization and pyrolysis processes
2.Application of adsorbent bio-carbons in the reduction of sulphur in SANDACH fats
3.Application of catalytic bio-carbons for the biodiesel production
4.Application of catalytic bio-carbons in the production of hydrobiofuels
5.Application of bio-carbons in bioenergy production

Expected results

  • Optimized process of pyrolysis and hydrothermal carbonisation.
  • Optimized process for the Sulphur content reduction.
  • Optimized process for biodiesel production.
  • Optimized process for the production of hydrobiofuels.
  • Optimized process for bioenergy production.
