ECOFACT

Optimize the energy performance of industrial production systems through advanced digitalization and life-cycle awareness

Description

ECOFACT (ECO-innovative Energy FACTory Management System) project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, aims to optimize the energy performance of industrial production systems through advanced digitalization and life-cycle awareness, fostering sustainability and process efficiency in manufacturing. Through an integrated digital platform based on advanced ICT technologies, ECOFACT combines tools for simulation, energy management, environmental analysis, and production planning to achieve more sustainable, competitive, and circular-oriented manufacturing.

Objectives

  • Optimize industrial energy use through advanced digitalization.
  • Integrate LCA/LCC analysis in production management.
  • Enhance process flexibility and efficiency.
  • Develop an interoperable ICT platform.
  • Validate solutions in pilot factories.
  • Promote sustainable, competitive manufacturing.

Actions

  • Coordinate the project and lead technical management.
  • Develop energy models and digital twins.
  • Define evaluation methodology and KPIs.
  • Integrate modules into the ECOFACT platform.
  • Oversee validation in pilot cases.
  • Ensure the scientific and technical consistency of the consortium.

Expected results

  • Integrated digital platform for energy and environmental management.
  • Significant reduction in energy use and emissions.
  • Advanced LCA/LCC analysis methods.
  • Successful demonstrations in pilot factories.
  • Industrial replication guidelines.
  • Contribution to sustainable manufacturing standards.
