CARTIF PROJECTS

LACTISHOE

Footwear with excellent regenerative properties of the skin epidermis

Description

The LACTISHOE project deals with obtaining new products from the footwear sector that will have excellent regenerative properties in the skin with which they are in contact, due to the innovative incorporation of microencapsulated lactic acid. The raw material will be whey from the cheese industry, problematic waste which generates a high environmental impact.

For this, a new hybrid process for obtaining lactic acid from whey will be developed, which will integrate the fermentation stage with the separation phase through distillation membranes.

Objectives

  • Give an added value to the whey.
  • Construction and optimization of the hybrid process of fermentation and separation by distillation membranes for the production of lactic acid.
  • Microencapsulation of lactic acid from fermentation of whey.
  • Obtaining two new products: insoles and inner lining of footwear with lactic acid and beneficial health properties.

Actions

  • Collection, characterization, pre treatment and conditioning of whey.
  • Design, construction and optimization of the new hybrid system of fermentation and separation with membranes to obtain lactic acid.
  • Ecodesign.
  • Microencapsulation of lactic acid.
  • Manufacture of insoles and inner lining of footwear with the incorporation of lactic acid. Analysis of their properties.

Expected results

  • Recovery the protein of the whey as product of great added value.
  • Develop at a semi industrial level a hybrid and innovative system for obtaining lactic acid.
  • Microencapsulation of lactic acid from fermentation of whey.
  • Obtaining two new products: insoles and inner lining of footwear with lactic acid and beneficial health properties.
