The European project LocalRES will hold its final event on 22 April, bringing together experts, policymakers, researchers and local stakeholders to present the main outcomes achieved throughout the project and to explore the role of renewable energy communities in driving the transition towards a more sustainable model. The event is conceived as a platform for exchange, focused on decarbonisation and place-based action.

The programme will open with a session dedicated to the project’s key milestones and its long-term legacy, while also looking ahead to the next steps required to continue fostering this type of initiative. This will be followed by presentations on advances in the planning of renewable energy communities, with a particular emphasis on turning strategic vision into concrete actions and locally applicable results.

The day will also include participatory sessions and discussions addressing key issues for the development of such communities, including the role of local and national policy support, the exchange of knowledge among stakeholders, and the importance of collaborative governance in building more sustainable regions. In this sense, the LocalRES final event aims to offer a comprehensive overview of the project’s achievements while opening the debate on the challenges that will shape the future of community energy in Europe.

Planning Tool, supporting local energy planning

Among the outcomes developed within the project, CARTIF has contributed a range of tools designed to support the creation and consolidation of renewable energy communities. One of these is the Planning Tool, developed to help visualise scenarios and facilitate the planning of such initiatives from a practical and accessible perspective.

The tool supports decision-making by providing technical guidance to public authorities, organisations and stakeholders involved in the deployment of energy communities. Its approach helps simplify processes, organise available information and enable a more structured framework for designing strategies tailored to each local context.
