Microgrid development platform as a basic energy solution for strategic enclaves in Iberoamerica

Description

Acces to energy services is of vital importance for the development of a community, especially for those in remote areas with difficult acces to general services or limited by their socio-economic situation.

To facilitate the development of these services, in this type of communities, it is imporant to develop a methodology and planning tools that assess the coverage of the energy demand considering an isolated electrification and whose objective is to reduce the cost of the kWh produced, facilitantig democratic acces to energy services to the whole community. Within this framework, CARTIF, together with the other project partners, proposed to develop a tool that allows the dimensioning of energy microgrids, including and analysing social aspects as key elements in their development.

Objectives

  • Develop a platform to implement a methodology for the development and design of microgrids as a basic energy solution in strategic enclaves to be defined in Ibero-America, for whose validation and proposals for future implementation small-scale initiatives with potential for scalability and replicability at urban or rural level will be developed.

Actions

  • Support in the definition of strategic enclaves through the evaluation of energy resources.
  • Definition of monitoring and control requirements in microgrids at different user levels.
  • Energy characterisation of strategic sites with dynamic models under TRNSYS environment.
  • Development of a tool for sizing microgrids, taking into account both energy and social parameters.

Expected Results

  • Tool that helps in decision-making on the sizing of microgrids in unique environments.
  • Good practice guide.

R&D Line

  • Research in tools for the management of energy communities.

LIFE VALPORC

The goal of the LIFE + VALPORC is to demonstrate a sustainable alternative to the management of pig carcasses and manure, focusing on the environmental problems derived from its current management and valorizing these wastes by transforming them into biofuels (biogas and biodiesel) and organic fertilizers,

BIOREFINERÍA FT

The FT BIOREFINERY Project consists in developing a technology that allows obtaining 2nd generation liquid biofuels (synthetic diesel) and electrical energy, through the application of gasification and co-gasification processes, of different types of solid and / or liquid waste ( herbaceous biomass, lignocellulosic, glycerin, etc.)
