CERFlex

Flexibility management on innovative rural energy communities via blockchain and machine learning

Description

CERFlex project consist on research in development and TIC solutions implementation moods that help to the deployment in a new concept of energy communities, especially focus on rural environment, facilitating a decentralized management of the energy interchange, the maximum utilisation of the renewable resources and a sustainable consume of the available resources.

Objectives

  • Definition and development of a energy interchange system prototype between equals based in blockchain technology.
  • Definition and development of prototype algorithms for the control of flexible electrical loads, such as those that may be available to the rural energy community in question, using reinforcement learning techniques.
  • Creation of prototype electric loads flexibility prediction algorithms in order to be able to determine the flexible resources to be counted on in the short term.
  • Definition of a Living Lab environment (real environment, although control) in which to validate the prototypes developed.
  • Generation of models of the distribution network models and flexible electrical loads for the Living Lab mentioned above.

Actions

  • Definition and development of a energy interchange system prototype between equals based on blockchain technology.
  • Definition and development of prototype algorithms for the control of flexible electrical loads, such as those that may be available to the rural energy community in question, using reinforcement learning techniques.
  • Prototyping of algorithms for predicting the flexibility of electrical loads in order to be able to determine the flexible resources that will be available in the short term.

Expected results

  • Blockchain development for the automatized energy interchange in a users energy community.
  • Prosumers flexibility prediction algorithms.
  • Algorithms for optimal resource management of an energy community.

R&D Line

  • Research in tools for the management of energy communities.

TIGON

TIGON

The proliferation of renewable energies and the electric charges that operates with continuous current originates a growing interest in electric grids that operates with continuous current. This is due to the higher efficiency, security, flexibility and feasability that grids have than those ones that operates with alternate current.
