I-VISART

Methodologies for the visual inspection of highly reflective and textured surfaces

Description

i-Visart, “New artificial vision methodologies for the visual inspection of highly reflective and textured surfaces”.
It is an industrial research project framed in the field of computer vision (digital enabler of industry 4.0) associated with the industrial sector.

Objectives

The objective is to study the detection and visual classification in real time of defects in complex highly reflective and/or textured surfaces, which in many cases appear lubricated, in order to guarantee the integrity and quality of the products.

Actions

  • Identify and characterize critical defects in metal, plastic and textile surfaces.
  • New Combinations of Lighting and Image Processing Technologies to reduce the Negative Effect of Textures on Processing.
  • Reduce the negative effects of the presence of lubricants on metal surfaces.
  • New pre-processing with probabilistic models, based on random Markov fields, and segmentations with frequency models, based on Gabor.

Expected results

To obtain new methodologies of artificial vision that can contribute to integral hardware/software solutions of quality control in the manufacturing industry of Castilla y León, especially in the macro-activity of automotive, components and capital goods.
